Good day, everyone!

SAP table T024I has a field for storing email addresses called SMTP_ADDR. There's no table maintenance defined for the table itself, but there is a view called V_T024I that we'd like to use in SM30 for entering email addresses for the existing records.

Unfortunately, the email address field doesn't display in table maintenance. I dug in and found that there's a switch called AD_ROTSUB_01_SFWS that's associated with this field ("Reaction to Switch" is set to "Display" so it certainly sounds like setting this switch would allow the SMTP_ADDR field to be displayed in the view maintenance screen). I'm not familiar with switches like this but I did a lot of Googling and found it appears to be part of the Switch Framework. I tried to view details about the switch in SFW1, but I get an error message: "Object does not exist or is not assigned to a package." Further searching makes it sound like that's an SAP ERP switch if it's not assigned to a package. I ran program SFW_FIND_SWITCHED_ELEMENTS and I got a list of places where the switch appears to be used (including the V_T024I view maintenance screen where I need it to appear) so it's out there in some form or fashion, but it won't come up in SFW1.

I'm not finding much else on this and am stuck. How can I somehow enable this switch? What am I missing?

Thank you in advance!

Dave

Read my original post again.

Why do I think it's a switch? Because when I go into the screen painter for the view maintenance screen and look at the "Mod. groups / functions" tab, there's a column called "Switch". And in that column for the field SMTP_ADDR, there's a value listed -- AD_ROTSUB_01_SFWS. To the immediate right of that column is a column called "Reaction to Switch". For the field SMTP_ADDR, it's set to "Display". So yeah, I think it's a Switch.

Also, table T024 is Purchasing Groups. Again, my original post didn't mention this table. I said T024I, which is Maintenance Planner Groups.

I'm developing an application that will email those responsible for work orders with costs exceeding the overall budget or within a certain percentage threshold of the overall budget. This information is in our T024I table (Maintenance Planner Groups). We already store a name in the table but we're adding emails so we can notify individuals via the new application.

By the way, I should have mentioned that creating a new maintenance view was certainly an option, but because I found that this field's display was dictated by this switch, I wanted to learn more about how to "activate" it. Seemed silly to create a new maintenance view if the existing view already supports the field as long as I can figure out how to activate the switch.

SMTP_ADDR field and given switch are not present in my release.

I checked AD_GENERAL package and its switch AD_GENERAL shows up in object navigator. Double clicking displays the switch.

You could try opening the package of screen in SE80 and see if forward navigation works.

If issue is because of data inconsistency, you may put SQL trace and see what tables get affected on switch deactivation.

Tables SFW_SW_BF and SFW_BF_SW store the Switch name and its activation status.

I think what I'm going to do is just copy the existing V_T024I maintenance view to a 'z' version with straight-up table maintenance generated - no specification of a switch on that field. As I said earlier, I knew this would be a simple enough option; I was just hoping to learn more about the switch functionality as that's something I've not come across before.

If anyone does have more information on this particular switch and what's going on with it / how it could be activated, I'd appreciate hearing from you! Please feel free to send me a message.

Thanks all, and have a great day!

Dave
