Report Variant

Experts,

There was a variant to schedule a background job. Due to some selection screen changes done in that report, not able to get the variant values. It shows error:

Variant XXX of program ZABC is not the current version.

Is there any way to get it back? Since this variant is required to continue the business as it was earlier.

I also tried FM: RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS. Its not working.

You may check tables like VARI, VAR* .

Hi Fasiullah ,

Create the earlier variant again.

I don't think you can be able to retrieve it again.

Variant history is not maintained anywhere I guess.

Problem is i am not aware of earlier variant but business needs same variant.

Hi Fasiullah ,

As far as my knowledge there is no provision in SAP to retrieve the earlier version of a variant.

If someone provides with a positive solution for your query it would be really informative.

Did you try with

1. Start transaction SE38
2. Enter program name zxxxxxx and check the 'Variants' option
3. On the resulting ABAP: Variants - Initial screen, go to the menu option Variants --> Adjust
4. The 'Rescue Obsolete Variants' program will be triggered

Else, using version management, regenerate the old version of program, if required transport it to the system where the variant is defined, note the information of the variant, reapply the source code change to get the current version of program and transport it once again.

Hi All,

i regenerated the old version and then copied the variant defined. Altering with new change i re-used the variant.
