Case insensitive search

I need to write a RFM where following conditions apply:

fetch customers where name1/name2/telephone matches the entered condition.Input parameter can by in any combination of nam1/name2/phone.

Please suggest a query. The key issues faced are.

1) existing query fetches all results when either field is passed blank.

2) case insensitive search is not possible...

For the uppercase, take a look at standard SAP search helps for customer (the NAME1 and other fields are copied in uppercase fields MCOD1 etc. so convert the input to uppercase and select on those fields)

What did you try for the 1st point, did you use a WHERE IN range and did you add OR between the criteria or AND ?

I don't think converting the input to upper case would work in case your table stores the data in lower case format but I don't know if that is the case here. If it is, then you would have to write separate SELECT statements or multiple WHERE conditions with an OR between them to check both uppercase and lowercase values.
