Help in Replicating KP06 with some additional features

Hi,

I have a requirement , where i'm required to copy the standard program KP06 and add some additional features in it.

I've tried copying the standard program , also copied the function group where the screen is present, i've made some changes to the copied version of the screen but that screen is not being called inside the copied program.

Is my approach correct?

Are you sure that all other enhancement options have been looked at already?

I strongly discourage you from copying complex standard code into Z-space. Making the copy run properly is already a challenge. Just one example of many pitfalls, often the standard transaction names are evaluated in the code, once you copied it under a different name, this logic does not work any more and needs to be adjusted as well.

During the next software upgrade, your copy might end up with syntax errors (if it is a mix of copied and standard includes). In any case you are losing the connection to future bug fixes and enhancements of the standard transaction.

If the proposed change is rather small and there is no other way to do it (implicit enhancement points?), in my experience a modification is better regarding future maintenance effort than such a huge copy.

But the requirement says they need a z- report---->

"Cost center planning and estimation layout will display one cost center’s plan at a time on the system screen, when it is downloaded, system will download the plan of cost center which was displayed on screen at that point of time. To download all the cost centers information we have do page down, save and again page down, save it like this one by one we have repeat for all the cost centers.

We need a program to download all the cost center budget/planning layouts in one stretch, hence it is missing in the standard functionality we are going for the development."

The SAP standard KP06 Tcode & program need to be copied and new Tcode will be created, expected additional features need to be added with standard program. They are :

Requirements are often written by someone who does not fully understand the technical consequences. Confront them with my arguments above.

I don't know KP06 well enough to be able to propose another solution out of the box, but maybe somebodey else does.

Maybe you can build a wrapper functionality that calls the standard transaction inside.

To get involved in copying standard report is not something to perform without due care...

You could try another approach. Look for BAPI to get list of currenc cost element/activity planning and update those value, then build a wrapper with selection-screen, cal bapi get list, update data from Excel uploaded, display data in ALV (input enabled or not), call BAPI to update, display errors if none confirm to update and commit.

Such a report would be a small development, due to use of BAPIs, so easy maintenance even during updgrades.

Look at business object BUS6026 CostActivityPlanning "ActivityCostPlanning" for BAPI like BAPI_COSTACTPLN_READACTINPUT, BAPI_COSTACTPLN_CHECKACTINPUT or BAPI_COSTACTPLN_POSTACTINPUT.
