How to create transparent table on runtime?

Hi Expert,

Is there any method to create transparent table on runtime instead of using SE11.

I have a program to copy data from a source table into a target table.

First, User have to enter source table and target table name.

Then program will get the structure of source table and pass the data into an internal table.

From the internal table again insert the data into the target table.

Lets say if the target table does not exist in data dictionary, I will have to create a new target transparent table based on the same structure of the source table during runtime.

Is there any way to do this?

You could try integrating a BDC for SE 11 and use field symbols to assign the appropriate table fields and types to the table control. Just a suggestion which i think would work.

Do let me know if u d like more info on it.

Also, post your code, i could make appropriate changes and present it to u.

Below code shows how I get the structure of the source table:

Alright, Basically the logic would be to check if the target table already exists by checking the DD02l Table (passing your target table name. If it does exist, proceed with your process.

If it doesn't exist ( sy-subrc ne 0 ) run a BDC which creates it using the same structure as the source table assuming you already have the target structure as stated above, you can simply pass the structure values of the source to the appropriate fields in the BDC recording to create the table.

Also note that some data would have to be hardcoded, such as table description, Package to store the table, and Request number.

Abetter way to get the field list of the source table would be the FM DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET just pass your table name to it and it will return a list of all the fields, domains etc etc in the 'DFIES_TAB' table.

- First ask database administrator for allowing user to create database tables in a productive system (...)

- Then read documentation on FM DDIF_TABL_PUT () (*)

You could easily find program like RRV_BUCKET_REPAIR (form MAIN) via a where-used performed on SE37.

if the second table is not there, then you can use of the last try endtry with <fs_table2> and you can use further.

- Check source code of RRV_BUCKET_REPAIR which I mentioned earlier, this one is SAP standard, it uses the FM above mentionned and perform some check on database status and perform some db commit too.

- Which return code not equal to 0 do you receive and from which FM ?
