Change BoM usage in Availability Control in VA21

Hi Folks,

If I go to transaction VA21, enter
Quotation Type: QT
Sales Org: S001
Dist. Chan: D1
Div: 00

Then enter my Sold-To, Ship-To, Material and Quantity and hit [Return]. I am presented with screen 500 of program SAPLATP4 "Quotation: Availability Control". If I then hit the Continue Button, I am presented with screen 0100 of program SAPMC29A "Select Alternative BoM".

I would like to be able to change the usage value RC29K-STLAN and have it re-determine the Alternative BoMs available to me, but unfortunately this field is grayed out.

Does anyone know of a screen exit or user exit or BADi that I could use to allow me make this field editable, and if the field value is changed, to redetermine the list of alternative BoMs.

If this is not possible, does anyone know a user exit, between screen 500 and screen 0100, that will allow me to determine this value based on some value of the line item.

Hi Folks,

I have been able to fine a solution for this. You have to put in an implicit enhancement at the start of the FM CS_ALT_SELECT_MAT and in here put an IF statement to check our rules under which we're going to change our BoM usage.

Then I will have to put the usage into some additional data field on VBAP that we don't use, and then do a check on (SAPFV45S)VBAP-?? to see what usage value we need to pass into the check.

Hopefully this saves someone some time as I spent a day debugging VA21 to find this solution!
