ME11 update error : Error during insert EINE with key

HI All,

I am facing the below problem..For one particular user update request is failing in ME11 transaction.Error was found in function module name ME_UPDATE_INFORECORD.I also check if it is number range problem but it is not the case..

Please help me out..

HI ,

while updating data to the table EINE use UPDATE statement. i think ur using INSERT with existing key.

So, Gaurav:

what is the error? Does it produce an abend and a short dump? If so, what does the dump say is the problem? Is it a DUPREC type abend? Or?? Have you searched the forum for relevant entries? It's really hard for anyone to offer any useful assistance from the ambiguous statements in this thread.

Hi,

The problem is that only one user is getting sporadic failed update messages (since last 3-4 days) when using transaction ME11. The error as recorded in SM13 is "Error during insert EINE with key <Inforecord #> <Pur Org>".

I checked the table EINE for the key mentioned in the above message and found that there is a 2 years old record with the same key. Now, what I do not understand is that while creating a new Inforecord, why does SAP comes up with an old number instead of generating a new one from the number range object. I tried to search on SDN as well as OSS Notes, but could not find any mention to this problem.

And yes, it is an abend message with no short dump...

Check if someone has reset the number range and set the last number wrongly

Two things come to mind...someone may have transported a number range (we shouldn't do that after the initial creation of the number range), or a number range has been reset so that the numbers obtained now overlap what was previously used, or there is an enhancement or customer coding somewhere that is assigning the wrong number. Do all the inforec and PO numbers come from same number range objects? And, are you certain that there is no dump? If this is coming from SAP transaction, we should see a dump in ST22. Are other people actually doing virtually the same changes and NOT getting the abend? Do you have a situation where different orgs get different number range and one of those overlaps numbers from the past?

Hi,

Its a standard transaction ME11 using the standard number range object INFOSATZ which is working fine for all other users. Even this user is facing this problem only in 10% of cases. Also, this number range object is used only for Inforecord Numbers.

I also checked for any possible dumps but there is none. Just plain error message in SM13 showing that the insert was not successful. We do not have any custom coding to influence the Inforecord number generated by the SAP program.

Looks like opening a ticket with SAP is the way to go.... but even with that, reproducing the problem will be challenging as it is sporadic in nature....

Is the user facing issue for the same document type ? If yes then check if there was any change made to this document type configuration via a transport. There are chances that the transport carries the Group object of the number range. If the QAS and PRD had different groups earlier then you can have this problem in prod system.

This problem has happened for me with standard number range objects for production orders which have the group concept of number ranges.

Kindly check in this angle as well.

did you manage to resolve this issue? I am facing the exact same problem in ME11 the last days. "Error during insert EINA with key 5300047395"

I recently implemented a new report using ME_INFORECORD_MAINTAIN_MULTI to create info records, but I'm not sure if this could be the cause.
