Activating dynamic date calculation in variant

Per the link below, I used to be able to activate "dynamic date calculation" in variant.

Our system has been upgraded to 6.0 and now we do not the same variant attribues screen where I can activate the "D" variable. It brings me to program/screen SA38/281.

Any suggestion how I may activate the "D" dynamic date calculation variable in a variant?

Actually in 6.0 you do have this option in the new variant Attributes screen.

In ECC 6.0, In the Variant Attributes screen, F4 Selection variable and select 'D' and in the Name of Variable select the function needed.

I think your company, firewall/ASA server is blocking the imageshack.us domain name.

In the column "Selection Variable" corresponding to the date row click match code or select that cell and press F4 in the pop up window the double click on D. Do the same thing for the column "Name of the variable".

Hi you can follow the below steps for Dynamic date selection

1>> Execute the report

2> Click on save button ( as variant )

3> Goto "Objects for selection screen" , select the date field -> set selection variable as 'D' and select select the name of variable ( Dynamic date )

4> Save the variant

Thank you for all your responses.

For some reports, the "T" (table TVARVC) and "D" (dynamic date calculation) are visible in the Selection Variable" column. But some reports only have "T" variable type. For those reports the "D" variable type not visible, how we may activiate to make "D" visible?

Hi Stacy.

Keep in mind that you can only apply the 'D Variable' to fields of type D (Dates), for other data types like character, decimal or integer you can not apply it.

That may be your case?

I have two reports side by side, both are custom built, use the same data field, and both are type "P". One has the "D" varible (possibly activated prior to upgrade) and the other one doesn't. Strange!

Thanks for taking your time in helping on this. Both reports are using the same field P_DATEHG (to-date), prgram screen SAPLSVAR, and screen #281.

Actually I meant the relevant code of your custom report, you just provided me with the info of the standard variant screen.

You can go to SE38, enter your custom report name, display the code, and paste the definition of that parameter. (It would be something like


PARAMETERS: P_DATEHG TYPE XXX_TYPE.

What I am interested in is to know which data type is being used, since this functionaliy will only apply to date type fields. So, bottom line: this field must definitely be a date, which makes me think that either something has changed in the custom report or after the upgrade to ECC 6.0 this data type might have changed as well.

You are right about the data type of the date field. We have reset it to be DATS, now It works properly and the "D" Dynamic Date Calculation visible. Thank you for taking your time in helping me.
