FBL5N performance issue

Hi SAP Experts,

Users in one of our production systems are having extremely slow performance when running tcode FBL5N.

I have already asked them to run the report with smaller data/selection criteria (e.g. limiting posting dates, company codes, etc) but the program still times out.

I also have asked them to run it in background. The job finishes but it takes a very, very long time to complete (even when using smaller data/selection criteria).

Is there anything that I should check still in the system? What could be the reason for the very slow performance of this transaction?

The system is using ECC 6.0, Oracle 10.2 on AIX 5.3.

but you uses the customer code too?

While running FBL5N you can check the process by SM50 in order to see if there's bottleneck

I Think Your Tables Are Very Slow So that there is problem to fetching data ....

Please check There is proper indexing On Tables. BSEG,BSID,BSAD ETC.

Hi,

There can be many causes for this.

Users are running this report when there is too much load on the system. Request your users to run this report either early morning/ during lunch/ late evening when the load on the system is at a minimum.

FBL5N might be fetching too many records even for a limited selection. Check the RAM of the production system. If it is less than 16GB, please recommend an upgrade because at some point of time RAM has to be upgraded as data goes on increasing day by day. So, it is not possible for the system to buffer such large amount of data with lack of RAM.

Limit the Posting Date/Clearing Date to 1 month.

Check if any BTE is implemented. The code implemented in the BTE could be one of the main cause.

Performance of Production system might get slow . when server have any Other external processes / Programs Running

So do confirm the same from Your BASIS Team about this issue .

Hi Kristofferson,

Could you fix the problem?

I have the same situation. We have upgraded to Ehp6, and the performance of FBL1N and FBL5N is very poor, even too many times the t-codes end in time-out.

Hi,

The transaction can go timeout if the server is down some times. You can request your users to run this report either early morning or els suggest the user to run the transaction SE16 table BSID for customer open items.
