As Atanu suggested, please check the customizing, you should assign this material type to a number range group which is linked to an internal range number.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I hope this helps.       <title>Number range assignment for materail creation</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi Experts,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need to create material with automatic assignment of internal and external number range . &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Already existing logic for one exit which is working fine in one system and I am using that same logic in other system &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;where it is not working and throuhging the following error: &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"Internal number assignment is not possible for the material type Operating supplies"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Can you please suggest where i am dong wrong ?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thank you in advance.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi Sridhar,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Generally the material types are assigned to a particular groups and number range is defined for the particular group. You can refer to transaction MMNR which is used to create and assign number intervals to the Material types. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please check the Group Specifications in SNRO and confirm whether proper Material type is added in MMNR or not.
