Using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA for Custom Fields in Material Master Table

Hi Experts,

We had a requirement were we had extended the Material Master Table by Appending structure to it, not only this we had also introduced a Custom User Tab (All the Custom fields are designed in the screen used in this User Tab )in MM01 t-code using SPRO settings.

Now when we are trying to upload data in Material Master we are using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.

we had extended the structure BAPI_TE_MARA & BAPI_TE_MARAX with Custom field all ready defined in MARA TABLE (But all fields are of character type in BAPI_TE_MARA & data type of all custom fields in BAPI_TE_MARAX is BAPIUPDATE).

In the Parameter "EXTENSIONIN" we are passing the name of the structure extended i.e BAPI_TE_MARA followed by custom data in value part1 field.

In the Parameter "EXTENSIONINX" we are passing the name of the structure extended i.e BAPI_TE_MARAX followed by custom data in value part1 field.

Even Then we are getting error message "Material Cannot be changed since no maintainable data passed. "

Are there any other parameters that need to be passed that we are missing?

Do we also need to Extend the structure BAPIMATHEAD to include for custom user tab since all the custom fields are designed in this user tab?

All the correction suggested in SAP Note 914251 are already there in the system.

Could you please guide me on the solution. I am facing the similar problem with update of custom fields on custom tab of Material Master.
