Hi Tony

We have put some ABAP curriculum material in the collaboration workspace which may be of assistance. It includes lectures, workshops, assignments, tests and exams. The students complete a 3 hour practical and 3 hour theoretical exam. The material supports one of our ABAP subjects (36 hours). We have some other material on WebDynpro and are looking at Caffeine (Mobile and ABAP) at present. Let me know if you would like copies of this material.

The course material uses the flight tables which are available in ECC. There is also a PC version of ABAP available from SCN which students can download and do the workshops. We have also developed a series of authorizations which prevent stud nets from seeing other student's code.

We offer 2 ABAP subjects but the students have come to realise that in the Australian marketplace that ABAP jobs are limited due to off-shoring.

Good luck

Paul

ABAP Curriculum Development

I'm in the process of developing a detailed curriculum for teaching ABAP in a university setting. When the resources are finished, they will be made available to other universities that participate in the SAP University Alliances program. I wanted to see if anyone was interested in collaborating on the creation of these resources. Any type of assistance would be welcome, but I would particularly value someone who would review the items and offer feedback for improvement. As such, this could be someone with an academic or professional background.

The course resources being created are intended to be used to teach ABAP to students who are veteran programmers such as those that would be found in a computer science, IT, or similar university program. The intent is to cover the fundamentals of ABAP programming, ABAP Objects, and other useful language applications. For those familiar with the SAP training courses on ABAP, the general idea is to cover content similar to BC100, BC400, and BC 401, with other content mixed in. The textbook used in conjunction with the pilot class is ABAP Objects but that would not be a mandatory element.

To see a sample (and these are redacted since they are publicly available) of some of the resources, visit http://einstein.etsu.edu/~pittares/podcast/index.php#CSCI4767 and look at the resources for Enterprise Programming.

If anyone has any interest in working on this project, your assistance would be valued. Please let me know.

Hi Paul,

I'm familiar with those resource and have looked over the things in the collaboration workspace.

I have found that many employers in our area specifically are seeking out ABAP developers. As my students are senior-level undergraduate students or graduate-level IT students, I'm endeavoring to create resources that would cover more elements and in more detail. I think it could be a nice companion to the resources already available on CW.

I do find it interesting that you have a method for segregating student work. None of the American UCCs have a viable technique for doing that. I'd be interested in learning more about that.

I'd be very interested in seeing what you have in the Web Dynpro space. My graduate students are using Getting Started with Web Dynpro ABAP by Ofenloch and Schwaiger in the graduate ABAP section, but I'm not developed any other resources for their work.

Thanks for your reply.
