E-mail Encryption

We have come across the following requirement:

Currently a mail is being sent to a vendor from SAP.

The mail contains only the u2018subjectu2019 and the u2018bodyu2019 in TXT format. It does not have any attachments.

The message contains confidential data.

Our requirement is to encrypt the message either by -

1. Encrypting the text in the mail before it is sent and then decrypting it when it is received by the vendor, or

2. Protecting the mail using a password.

Any inputs on either of the methods are welcome.
