non-unicode bw - unicode sap ecc

Hi ,

I have a BW 7.0 non-unicode system connected to a SAP R/3 4.7 non-unicode.

We are planning to upgrade SAP to ECC 6.0 and then unicode conversion of only sap ecc60 instance.

Can BW 7.0 non-unicode work correctly with ECC 6.0 unicode or there are any problem ?

There are any restrictionS?

Is there any SAP oss note that certify the solution or tell me possible problemS?

Hi Antonio,

I would suggest to have Unicode throughout the landscape.

Simlar recommendation/issues with non-unicode in SAP Note 838402.

Hi Antonio,

I would also highly recommend to do a Unicode conversion on the BW side.

In case of Non-Unicode, there is a high probablility that Non-supported characters are transfered to BW causing problems.

Please also have a look at SAP note 1322715 point 6.
