I need to bring in materials from the legacy system. We are on SAP ECC5.0 with AFS. I need to bring in AFS specific fields like master grid, sales grid, pack quantity, pack unit, case type, color, etc. would I be able to use LSMW? If not, what would be the other alternatives, before I start coding it in ABAP. All responses will be greatly appreciated, of course with the appropriate points being rewarded.

Hi Uma,

It depends on whether it is one time conversion or multiple times. if u do the same in regular intervals, LSMW would not be suggested. Instead u can use the IDOCs with the message types J3AMAT & J3AGRI. This way also, u can create IDOCs from the flat file. Once the IDOCs are created you really no need to worry regarding updating materials and all since the standard Message Types will take care the following.

Let me know if you need any details
