Get the "hands on" academic training from SAP. Go to BC400 - Introdcution to ABAP/4. It is a good "start-up" class.

I suggest bset way to learn ABAP is to refer SAP Help.

Go to help.sap.com and it will give all details for ABAP programming inclusing new technologies currently available in SAP.
