CALL METHOD GRID1->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY

Hi,

i am trying to display the output in ALV using Class cl_gui_alv_grid and cl_gui_custom_container and i have used 4 tables to fetch and display the data so what should be the structure name I_STRUCTURE_NAME = ' ' in CALL METHOD GRID1->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY. I did the coding as

CALL METHOD GRID1->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY

EXPORTING

I_STRUCTURE_NAME = ' '

CHANGING

IT_OUTTAB = it_data.

Hi,

Before starting the development, i suggest you to go through some examples provided by SAP.

eg: report BCALV_GRID_DEMO.

Search in se38 with BCALV*.

you have to pass fieldcatelog when your output table contains fields from different tables.

Hi,

It is not needed to pass value for this parameter, just final internal table is required to be passed to

IT_OUTTAB.

But if you still wish to use it, declare it of type DD02L-TABNAME.

Hi,

As Abhihjeet has already mentioned, this parameter is not mandatory, however, if you still wish to use it, you can create a Z structure with the fields that you require for display in the output and pass that structure name to this parameter.

It's a good practice to have a Z structure declared for your ALV output display especially if it has currency or qualtity fields.

You can aslo use the field catalouge, if you are interested in a sturcture then create it in se11 and use it.
