But I still have some ambiguity is for that i posted.

First: This program RSLTMOD is just for SAP objects or for customer developements too (For example Z programs in SE38, Z data elements in SE11, etc ) ? Because when i run this program it not gathers translations for Z objects!!!!

I expect that this program for Z object do the same as the program "RS_LXE_RECORD_TORDER" but this is not the case !!!!

If not, what about customer developements translations (Z Objects)? They are automatically saved during the upgrade without any actions on my side?

In the SAP note 485741, is written:

o During the upgrade, customer developments (for example, objects developed in the customer namespace) are copied into the new repository in the DIFFCUST* phases. The customer developments are saved in all existing languages.

Thank you in advance.

Edited by: SALHI Amal on May 3, 2010 3:43 PM

Edited by: SALHI Amal on May 3, 2010 3:46 PM

Upgrade ECC6 - Translations - RSLTMOD program

Hello expert,

I have an issue and i need your help.

We are doing an upgrade from ECC5 to ECC6 and i have some questions about "Translations".

I read the SAP note 485741, I still have some ambiguity and I need you help to clarify, so my questions are:

- For Customer developements (Objects developed in the customer namespace Z, programs, tables, data elements, etc): I understood that are "NOT LOST" after the upgrade in all existing languages? It's correct? So, I don't need to do something on my side means translations of these objects are automatically saved and after upgrade, i will find my translations ? or there are some prerequisites to save them?

- And what about program "RSLTMOD"? Is just for SAP objects translations, i mean when customer translate SAP objects, we can save these translations by this program? It's it?

- Last question : And for export and import: I may do it for each environnement? I mean for DEV, Quality, Pre-production and Production or just in DEV and after i transport the Request as we do usually?

Thank you in advance.

I would be grateful if you help me.

Hi SALHI,

Using the translation environment in the SAP system, you can translate missing texts of SAP objects

or translate existing texts, for example, to customize them with your own terminology. For the latter,

you need to define your own language (Z language) in the SAP system.

SAP system objects that you have changed are scanned by the Repository scanner during the upgrade.

Objects for which the SAP standard has not changed for the new release are taken on by the upgrade.

Objects that collide with the new SAP standard are offered for modification adjustment.

Your translations of SAP system texts are not considered as modifications to the SAP system.

Therefore, these translations do not appear in the modification adjustment and are not saved during

the upgrade of the SAP system.

You can preserve your translations by gathering them in a transport request or language package.

You then download the request or package from the source system and upload it into the target

system. The procedure varies depending on your source release

Caution

If you decide to save your translations, note the following:

1) In addition to your translations, the transport request also contains language-independent parts.

Importing these language-independent parts into the target system using the standard import

tool tp or TMS can harm your system considerably! Make sure that you only import them with

report RSTLAN_IMPORT_SINGLE.

2) If SAP has changed the texts for which you have created translations in the target system, the

upload of your translation into the target system overwrites the changes made by SAP.

Steps:-

1. To gather your translations on the source release, you can either create a transport request using

report RSLTMOD or create a language package using transaction SMLT_EX.

2. Download the transport request or language package before you perform the upgrade.

3. Upload the transport request or language package after the upgrade.

To upload the language package, use transaction SMLT.

Thanks

Naresh

I hope my answers will help someone.

1- Yes, after the upgrade, Customer developments translations (Z* objects) are automatically saved in all existing languages --> No action to do, no prerequisites.

2- Yes, "RSLTMOD" program is just for standard texts translation means when we change the translation of standard texts.

3- My advice is to do export import in each environment. I mean for DEV, Quality, Pre-production and Production because when I tried to do it just in DEV and after i transport the Request, I had the following error message:

1AETW062 client "400" doesn't exist. Please choose another client
