Hi,

Just a real general question. I'm pretty new to SAP development with JCO. When providing the jco_client param when trying to connect, what value is that? Is it just some arbitrary value, or is it based off something from the SAP server?

Hi,

I am not sure if I understand your question but if you mean what is the meaning of parameter SAP client when connecting to SAP system then it's the client which will be used. Briefly, you can have multiple clients with different data on one system. You can google more detailed answer on question: what is client in SAP.

OK, thanks. You answered my question! So, it seems like client 000 is the "master" client, correct? That one can see data that belongs to all clients?

Incorrect. In SAP you can split tables into two categories: client dependent and client independent. Data stored in client independent tables can be accessed from any client. DAta stored in the client dependent tables can be different in each client. You need to answer in which client you want to work. The client 000 is usually not a good idea.
