New Smartform or update SAPScript?

I have a requirement to update a form used for purchase order output. The form we use today is SAPScript it is moderately complex in the logic it uses. Is the effort required to convert the SAPScript to a Smartform significantly more than just updating the SAPScript? The changes are the addition of a couple static text descriptions and some dynamic text that will only print if the purchase order is for a specific plant value.

I would like to take this opportunity to migrate to smartforms but the consulting firm we are working with wants to just update the existing sapscript. I would appreciate the feedback of those with experience as to the difference between the level of effort for each solution.

Hi Thomas,

Better would be you going for new smartform-

1] Its very easy to migrate from script to smartform

2]As u stated,you need values to be populated based on plant dynamically which can be easily done by putting conditions eg if plant==(plant code) in case of smartforms than scripts

Thanks Amruta that is what I am looking for. I am interested in some outside opinions on which option is better not how to do it.

stick with the SAPScript, unless you have a couple of months to work on the new SmartForm.

Hi,

I'm with Dave on this, if the SAPscript works and you have the available skills to maintain it, there is no benefit in migrating to Smartforms.

The migration to smartforms will take time and effort (I would not agree that it is "very easy to migrate from script to smartform"), particularly if your SAPscript is complex. I would only recommend migrating if you have no SAPscript skill in your organisation or there is a requirement that cannot be satisfied by SAPscript.
