Step Loops in subscreen

I'm trying to place a step loop in a subscreen and I'm not getting any vertical scroll bars. Any idea why?

Hi Carlos,

In the screen, after placing the field which you are going to display in the form of a step loop.

select all those field and the edit -> grouping -> steploop -> define.

then activate and then you will get the scroll bars.

Hi,

A step loop can extend more than one line on the screen. A vertical scroll bar is automatically created to show step loops on the screen.

You create step loop in the screen painter t.code SE51. First we define the screen elements that will be part of the step loop on the screen and they may extend to more than one line. Select all elements as one group.

Goto Edit menu and select Grouping->Step Loop->Define.

To define a step loop as variable or fixed goto Edit->Grouping->Step Loops->fix or Variable.

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly.

I already created the steploop, and it works fine, but the scroll bar didn't appear. I have worked with steploops before and never had this problem... the only difference this time is that I'm placing the steploop in a subscreen. Do you think that may be the problem?

But I don't remember a step loop can have a vertical scrol bar: are u sure about this?

yes, I'm sure. You get a scroll bar, not one like the one in the table control, but you get one in the main window.

As Max, it surprises me too. I think a step loop doesn't have a scroll bar, as I can see in DEMO_DYNPRO_STEP_LOOP program.

Do you know an example of step loop where there is a vertical scroll bar?

Maybe you are talking about table controls ?

But that scroll bar is not for the steploop, but for the screen: if the size of the screen exceeds the size of the video, a vertical scroll bar will be active.

The size depends on the element placed on the screen: if you place a steploop, the steploop will be an element of the main screen, if u place a subscreen, the subscreen will be the element of the main screen.

So if you need to active a vertical scroll bar, the size of your subscreen should be as much big as to exceed the size of the video

thanks Max, but not quite right. That is the way it works with steploops, when you have too many registries in your steploop, the systems activates a scrollbar so you can navigate through all of them. In the pbo you'll have something like this:

loop at itab cursor v_index.

perform 'XXX'.

endloop.

if you set v_index to 2, then the first item displayed in the steploop in the screen will be the second item on the table.

When i tried to implement a steploop in a subscreen, i could only see the first 3 or 4 items because i didn't have the scroll bar.

this is what i found on a steploop tutorial:

My problem basically is that when i created my steploop in a subscreen the vertial scroll bar never appeared.

Probably u're right, I'll try to create a steploop...

but I think the system can create a scroll bar in the mai screen, if you place the steploop in a subscreen, probably the system can't feel it as element of the main screen so it can't active the scroll bar.

I used the steploop many years ago, and I always implemented the buttons in order to scroll it

I agree with Max, the vertical scroll bar belongs to the screen, and not to the step loop. It appears because the step loop is higher than screen height. I reproduced the same behavior.

The text you mentioned does not contradict our point of view.

If that were the case, when i scroll down, then the whole windows would scroll. In this case when i scroll down only the step loop is affected by the scroll. Besides this is a 'variable' steploop so its size depends on the size of the screen. If you have the time try creating a steploop and you'll see what i mean.

Carlos, I apologize, yesterday I had created a fixed size steploop. Today I created a variable steploop with LOOP AT itab CURSOR cursor, and could reproduce what you say.

Within a subscreen, I could reproduce what you say too, but I couldn't find a way to display the scrollbar.

It seems that steploop and subscreen cannot be used together: I created a narrow subscreen with data on the right of the subscreen, and the steploop was displayed OUTSIDE the subscreen and overwritten by the text on the right of the subscreen.

As steploops are obsolete, I suggest that you migrate to table control as soon as possible.

yeah... I only use steploops because they don't force me to display my table fields side by side like table controls. In steploops you can use more than one row for the same item of a table.
