Search Help Exit

Hello all,

I have implemented an elementary Search help with few fields.

I have attched a search help exit and now i need to chnge the Description of one my field appearing on the search help.

E.g : The Text coming from the standard data element is DESCRIPTION (2) and i need to change it to DESCRIPTION LINE.

I was trying to implement the code in SELECT step.But it is not working.

Can anyone suggest.

Hi Arun,

Put ur code in DISP step. This step gets executed before displaying the hit list. So its the right place to change description of search help field .

*Before displaying hitlist

IF callcontrol-step = 'DISP'.

" Here u have to modify value in field REPTEXT in table SHLP_TAB - FIELDDESCR with ur new description

Endif.

But still the value is not getting changed.

Change column header texts appearing on the search help hit list

LOOP AT shlp-fielddescr INTO wa_fielddescr.

CLEAR v_tabix.

v_tabix = sy-tabix.

CASE wa_fielddescr-fieldname.

WHEN 'TXA50'.

wa_fielddescr-fieldtext = 'Description Line 2'.

wa_fielddescr-reptext = 'Description'.

wa_fielddescr-scrtext_s = 'Description'.

wa_fielddescr-scrtext_m = 'Description Line 2'.

wa_fielddescr-scrtext_l = 'Description Line 2'.

MODIFY shlp-fielddescr FROM wa_fielddescr INDEX sy-tabix

TRANSPORTING fieldtext reptext scrtext_s scrtext_m scrtext_l.

ENDCASE.

ENDLOOP.

ENDCASE.

Kindly suggest if i am doing anything wrong.

Better to use your own data element if you can - this will fix your problem without writing 100 lines of code

WHEN 'TXA50'.

wa_fielddescr-reptext = 'Description Line 2'. " <----- Change only REPTEXT

MODIFY shlp_tab-fielddescr FROM wa_fielddescr INDEX sy-tabix "<--- Modify SHLP_TAB-fielddescr

TRANSPORTING reptext.
