Hi,

We have included some new non-key fields to an existing Z custom table and the table maintenance view have also been re-generated. We did tried in SE55 with expert mode by checking all the check-boxes.

Now the issue is the non-key fields with numeric type fields are not visible in the overview screen of the SM30 ( it does appear on single entry screen). I wonder, why only non-key fields with character type are visible, but not the numeric fields?

But if we set those numeric fields as a key field it does appear in the overview screen of SM30, but we cannot set these fields as a key field. Do we need to set a different settings?

Somebody please shed some light on this issue. Your help will be appreciated...

Thanks!

Hi,

Delete the entire function group and create a new function group and also the maintainance generator.

KR Jaideep,

Yes, initially these table belongs to a different function group. Now we created a new function group to assign these tables. This option didn't work.

I just wanted to know why SAP is ignoring the numeric/date fields if it is a non-key field while re-generating the table maintenance?

Got a response from SAP like the below.

"with release 4.6B, SAP has redesigned the screen generator for SM30 according to usability guidelines that had been approved at that time. And it was one point, that usually character fields contain data to be shown in an overview screen while numbers, values, dates etc. should be placed on a detail screen.

However, this is only valid if a user decides to generate a two-step type dialogue. If you create a one-step type dialog without a single screen, all fields will be placed on the overview screen.

Second, please keep in mind that the table maintenance generator is a development tool that produces only a basis for further work, and very often, the maintenance screens have to be improved manually."
