Regarding development server database

Hi All,

We have backup of development server data, we created a new development server. Now if we restore my backup to the current running development server can we get back all the authorizations which we had earlier.

Seems you are talking about System Refresh. Please get in touch with your BASIS team to understand the parameters based in which the back up is taken; specially the Standard Profiles containing the Users and Roles. If they were backed up properly then after restoration you will have all the roles which were available in the Dev system before the event will be available again.

Would like to know what did you mean to say here by "we created a new development server". Is it about a fresh Installation or Just refreshing the system as I assumed and described you. If it is a fresh Installation then also the same methodologies will apply after Post Installation steps.

Some applications might no long be authorized to function properly or at all, because they cannot authenticate.

See transaction SECSTORE --> You will need to migrate the logon credentials because the SID and possibly installation numbers have changed, as well other attributes which it uses.

If you read the documentation on the transaction it should be clear for you (or your basis team).

Same goes for any other administrative logon information saved within the system or outside of it. Your STMS is an example, but not the only one.

Best is to have a check-list for this sort of activity. Again, this should be a standard procedure for your basis team.
