My requirement is to retrieve the DDTEXT for a FIELDNAME.

DDTEXT is available in DD04T while FIELDNAME is available in DD03L.

How can I join th tables using RFC_READ_TABLE.If not can you suggest an alternative RFC.

Please note that I need to invoke RFC from java layer. Hence need to use some standard RFC as writing my own RFC is not an option available to me.

Edited by: MNGhosh on Sep 16, 2009 5:14 AM

Thanks for the information.

However, when I serach the table DD03T by giving TABNAME as VBAK it gives no entry found. Why is that so?

Does this table contain the details for only certain tables or for all?

For table VBAK entries u have to pass E1FVBAK in table name that gives corresponding vbak field names and desc.

Hi ,

Thanks for the information.

Now I am able to retrieve the data .However, one question here is how do we know that for VBAK we need to pass E1FVBAK.

Is there some table that contains this mapping . As I would need to know this inof noty just for VBAK . In general I need to get this for all sap tables.

Also , One important observation is that DDTEXT is empty.

Even though, DDTEXT for VBELN is available in DD04T.Why is that so.

In that case it wont be helpful in my scenario as I need to fetch teh DDTEXT for a given field of a given table.

It would very helpful if you could throw some light on this as well.

Regards,

MNGhosh
