hi experts,

We need to build an interface between non SAP(legacy) TO SAP.Our client is a health care industry. They have HIS and LIS software. So we will be getting an XL sheet from those software based on that we designed some bapi's and bdc's to upload in to SAP.Now the coustomer wants this to be automated.Like every night after 12 it has to automatically uploaded in to SAP with out human intervention.so this is first time to me.What i need to do,do i need to do background job scheduling thats it? or use ALE idocs or else need to do some coding stuff..

Hi Priyank,

Where will you get files from legacy system? If you get files into SAP Application server, then you can schedule the batch job for drveloped BDC / upload program.

We have also developed some interfaces. Follwoing are the steps:

1. Legacy System keeps file on shared network (not on SAP Application Server)

2. We have used software called "AUTOMATE" which then copies the files from shared network to SAP Application server. This is automated scheduled job.

3. SAP Upload program is scheduled.

4. You have to maintain Z-Table for file path and interface mapping, in case of multiple interfaces.

5. SAP Upload program will find out newly kept files in the folder and process those files. After processing, it will keep these files to Archive / Error folder and remove from the current interface folder.

Regards,

Anil Salekar

If you have a single interface, you can hard code the file path in your program. But it is always suggeted to use table for this.

Typically, your table can be as follows depending upon your requirement:

MANDT	MANDT	CLNT	3	0	Client

======================================================================================================

ZZ_INT_ID	ZZ_INT_ID	CHAR	4	0	Interface ID

ZZ_INT_NAME	ZZ_INT_NAME	CHAR	20	0	Interface Name

ZZ_INT_TYPE	ZZ_INT_TYPE	CHAR	1	0	Interfcae Type : Inbound / Outbound

ZZ_FILE_PATH	ZZ_FILE_PATH	CHAR	60	0	Interface File Path

ZZ_ERROR_PATH	ZZ_ERROR_PATH	CHAR	60	0	Interfcae Errof File Path

ZZ_RES_PERSON	ZZ_RES_PERSON	CHAR	30	0	Responsible Person

ZZ_EMAIL_ID	AD_SMTPADR	CHAR	241	0	E-Mail Address

ZZ_ARCH_PATH	ZZ_ARCH_PATH	CHAR	60	0	Archieve Folder path

ZZ_IND	ZZ_IND	CHAR	3	0	Indicator

Here you can send mail to person once you process the file.

Regards,

Anil Salekar
