I am sure that External debugging is available only in ECC versions .

I set the break point noraml break-point , but it is not stopping .

Dharma .

Hi ,

We are enhancing a portal Application ( EP 7.0) which points to the R/3 4.6 c in Backend . This Application has customised views . I want to debug the ABP CODE and see R/3 logic .

1) How can I see the RFC Function modules or Business objjects where logic pertaining to a I view is coded?

2)How Can I stop at R/3 while processing in the portal , so that I can debug ?

Thanks in Advance ,

Dharma .

Hi,

I am not sure abt ur requirement. But i came across this type of situation in my project.

I think U need to activate External Debugging for that service. U can do it thru SICF transaction code

U will have one iption in the menu bar called (Activate External Debugging).

Activate it and put a break point in the code and proceed.

Regards,

Lakshman.

There are 2 steps involved in external debugging:

1. Setting up the external debugging in R3:

GOTO se37

From the main menu goto

Utilities->settings

Under settings goto:

ABAP Editor->debugging

Under debugging subscreen you will get option of external debugging, make sure your user ID is mentioned (Please make sure you login to the portal with the same ID as mentioned here) and put a checkbox for "IP Matching".

2. Puting an external breakpoint in ABAP Code:

Now, you put a external breakpoint in your RFC FM which is getting called from the portal. Now your external debugging is set and once you click on the specific button on portal it will give you the debugging screen the moment it touches the ABAP code in R3.

Regards,

Raman.

Hi Dharma,

You cna debug from portal by using external breakpoints in the ABAP code.

I guess you cannot stop the debugger at Business Object methods. To test the same you can test run them in SWO1 t-code.

Regards,

Saumya

Hi ,

I found the answer for this . Portal devloper can give which FM or Program is being used for the logic . Then Put a end less loop in the program . While processing on the portal , This end less loop will be triggered . Then GO to SM59 .. select the serveer and in menu you will find an option to debug the program .

Edited by: Dharma Rao potladhurthi on Feb 18, 2010 12:49 PM
