IDoc Mapping

Hi All!

I am new to IDoc scenarios,I am having mapping details for which a basic IDoc has to be identified.Using we60,what basic criteria i have to look out for selecting a basic IDoc for my requirment.Please suggest.

Hi Praneeth,

You have to first look at what data does your IDoc carry. Then identify how is your occurences of the segements. For example:

A Occurence 1 - n

B Occurence 1 - n

If the above is a Basic Idoc type where A is parent of B, then this means in your IDOC you can have data as follows:

In a gist, it all depends upon what kind of data are you sending.

Hi Srikanth!

To be more specific i am giving the field details :

CATSDB , CATSDB-APDAT , CATSDB-LSTAR,CSLT -LTEXT,CATSDB-CATSHOURS,CATSDB-BEGUZ,CATSDB-ENDUZ.

I have to identify a IDOC for this and I think CATS_INSERT02 is suitable for this.Can u please conform.This is for payroll data upload.There r lot of fields in the basic data and how to hide all the data.

Can you exactly tell me which segments contain all the fields you want in CATS_INSERT02?

Hi srikanth!

I suppose E1BPCATS1 segment contains the fields - employee no,

CATSDB-CATSHOURS - hours per overtime code

CATSDB-BEGUZ - start time

CATSDB-ENDUZ - end time

CATSDB-LSTAR - overtime code

CATSDB-LTEXT - overtime desc

catsdb-apdat - approval date

This is just my guess.

Please clarify to proceed further

Hi Praneeth,

I was spending sometime for trying to find out which segment will best suit you and relised that the fields that you need aren't there in one single segment. See all that you can do is search for the segments which has a name CATS. If you find one IDoc in which you have all data and also if you can use 2/3 of the structure, then go ahead and use it.

Otherwise I would suggest you to create a new IDoc. The reasons are, say if the requirements change tomorrow and they have fields over and above the basic IDoc which you have chosen, then your program will surely go on a toss. If one change is gonna make a huge impact, then better you create a new basic type and develop I/B and O/B modules for them.

Thanks for your input.Is it not preferable to extend this IDoc to accomadate further fields.Infact the situation u were referring is in the context and actually i have to insert some further fields which r not available in this IDoc.Henceforth I was looking out for a suitable IDoc that can be extended.If u can suggest me whether this is suitable then i can go ahead.

Hi Praneeth,

If it is that you have to extend an IDoc which IDoc are you extending? as I see that the IDoc which you were referring to doesnot have all the fields. Is it that you are extending this one. If so then just create a segment with the required fields and add the segement to the IDoc.

hi,

1st we19 transaction and give your basic type for example you can give INVOIC01 and do a f8 on that then you will get a tree structure which need to be filled up with data for all the segments.
