Search help Issue

Hi,

I am getting one issue.

I have one z table say zemployee.

I have added fields mandt, zemp_id, zemp_name,

I have created search help for the same with zemployee.

I have also added zemployee and zemp_id in it.

Activated it , everything worked fine.

Now the user wants only the employee name and not emp_id in selection (F4)

I tried to change and activate. The searchelp got activated.

But the table Zemployee doesnt get activated it says.

zemployee-zemp_name: Field zemp_id of the assignment does not exist in the search help zemp_id

Attachment to search help zemployee-zemp_name: zemp_id and zemp_id have different data types

Attachment to search help zemployee-zemp_name: zemp_idand zemp_id have different lengths .

I also tried adjusting the table in se14. It says the same.#

Can anyone tell me what the problem is. I dont want emp_id in the searchelp instead just the emp_name.

Hi,

Can you try deleting the Search help and creating it once more.

ZEMPLOYEE - Table name with field ZEMP_ID,ZEMP_NAME.

Search help - create it once more by deleting the one u have created with ZEMP_NAME alone

Hi,

If you want only one field in f4 then give that directly in value table. Your probelm will be solved.

If you still want search help, then create a new search help and assign that.

find out whether the data type and length is correct

then why cant u delete the one which is giving errors

and create a new one with ur requirement.

Hi Jyothi,

My search help problem is solved. Now i generated a table maintenence for zemployee. But when i maintain new entries in table maintennace generator it says enter a valid value, and not allowing me to make new entries.

I deleted the TMG and regenerated again. Also its strange as it works for many tables.

Please let me know if u all have come across this anytime.

may be u might have linked that filed to a foriegn key, if u want the foriegn key relation to be still there and the error should not come, go to the foreign key relation screen and uncheck the check box "Check required" you would not get the error.
