When I am editing a form (in se71) and I save it, I am asked to create a transport for it. However, the only option for my transport is a local workbench request. I can not create a tranpsort that is transportable to another system. I know how to transport local requests by wrapping them in a transport of copies, but that seems like a lot of unneccesary work. I believe our Basis configuration is wrong, but our basis guy can not find a problem with it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks, but I am not given an option to change the package. I am simply prompted for a local workbench request and that is all.

At the top of the box it says "Prompt for local workbench request". If I click on the drop down next to the request number it says.

"You can include objects of this type in a local Workbench

request only"

I have no other options.

Thanks Anju, but that thread does not apply to my problem.

As it turns out, any packages that are set to the SAP layer are configured for local transports. So what I really need is to re-configure the SAP transport layer route so that it can go to my other systems (instead of defaulting to local). I do not know where to go to configure the SAP transport layer.

Can anyone help me with that? I have tried STMS, but I can't find it in there.

Thanks.

By the way, If this is not really an ABAP question, is there a more accuarte forum to post BASIS questions?

You're right, there is probably another forum for that. By the way, are you editing a standard or custom sapscript? Another question, I didn't understand whether you looked at the package (via SE21) to which the sapscript belongs to. STMS is the one where you may define transport routes (or maybe it has to be done from solution manager now?) I don't understand why you have to re-configure landscape, is it a brand new system?

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for trying t help with my problem. I'll try and answer your questions a best I can, but I don't know how else to explain what is going on.

I can't find a more appropriate forum, so if you know which one would be better suited for Basis type questions, please let me know.

I am trying to edit a standard SAPscript form (F140_docu_exc).

You said: "I didn't understand whether you looked at the package (via SE21) to which the sapscript belongs to."

How do I find out which package the script belongs to? When saving the script, I am prompted for a "local workbench request" only. So I can not select a package or change packages or anything like that. That is my whole problem.

Our system is fairly new. It was installed about 6 months ago and most of the defaults were chose for the routing. I don't know if I need to use STMS or re-configure any routes, but something is obviously wrong and I don't know where else to change the settings. It my not be in STMS at all, but if there is someplace else, I hoping someone can tell me where that is.

Thanks.

Hi John,

I am not very sure what the problem is but it seems, as mentioned in other post that their might be some problem related with transport layer and package..

First get the package of you sapscript. To do this open sapscript in SE71, choose the menu path Goto->Header and on Adminitrative Data tab you will see the package.

Next question is whether this package is right package (with right transport layer assign to it). Either you are not using correct package, or your package is not assign to correct transport layer.

Check package of one of the report which is stored in workbench request. Use the same package in sapscript. You can change the package of sapscrpt using transaction SE03->Change Object Directory Entry.

Or compare the transport layer assigned to the package (of sapscript) using SE21 to a package of report which is in workbench request..

Hope that helps..

To see the package name, display the heading part of the sapscript.

Now, if it's a brand new system, I guess you must create a transport route to be able to use a transportable transport order (in STMS, choose keys Shift+F7).

The right forum for this kind of question is probably SAP NetWeaver AS, General (list of forums here : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/forums).

OK, This is what I have found.

The form is in the package 'SAP'.

So apprantly the SAP package is not transportable. I think this needs to change. Becuase this affects many things other than just my form. When we make changes to OSS notes and user exits, we have the same transport problem. They are all in the SAP package.

Pawan, I tried using SE03 to change the package for my form, but I don't understand how it works. It kept telling me to select an object no matter what I selected.

So unless, you have any suggestions as to how to change the routing for the SAP package, I'll take Sandra's suggestion and carry on this thread in another fourm.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Pawan,

The form is named 'F140_docu_exc'. It is a standard sap-form. I have to change it becuase it is called from another SAP standard program that we use. So I would either have to modify the program to call a different form (my 'Z' form), or change the form. Changing the form seemed like the better way to go.

I tried the instructions you gave and I still got the same message; "No objects were selected".

I have a check in the box on the row I am using. The first box in the row has "R3TR" the second box has "FORM" and the longer box has my object in it ("F140_DOCU_EXC"). When I press F8 or click on the clock with the green check I get the same message "No objects were selected."

So I don't know what else to do.

Thanks.

You are on wrong path... usually we don't modify sap-standard form... copy it and change it...

I agree program is calling that sapscript/smartform, but that can be reconfigured (without changing code) to use new customer sapscript/smartform.

Good Luck!!
