Variant Contents

Hi All,

I want to see the variant contents in database table.

Could someone tell the table name where report variants are stored and their contents as well OR any such function module from where if I give some contents used in some variants, it should give me the variant names.

The basic requirement is i want to search for variant names where a particular pattern e.g. 'ABCD' has been used in the variant's selection screen.

Don't know if there is a function module to suit your needs.. but you can check out the following tables..

VARI - ABAP/4: Variant storage (similar to INDX)

VARIDESC - Selection Variants: Description

VARIDESCCI - Selection Variants: Description (Cross-Cli

VARID_CI - Variant Catalog, Cross-Client

VARINUM - Internal number assignment for variants

VARIS - Assignment of variant to selection screen

VARIS_CI - Assignment of Variant to Selection Screen

VARIT - Variant Texts

VARIT_CI - Variant Texts, Cross-Client

VARK - Delivery Plan: Customer-Specific Itinerary

VARZ - Delivery Plan: Zone-Specific Itinerary

Check these function modules.

RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS

RS_VARIANT_VALUES_TECH_DATA

and all function modules in the function group SVAR

Check the table <b>RS38M</b>, for variants check the field <b>SELSET</b> in the table.

You have to use RS_ALL_VARIANTS_4_1_REPORT to get all the variants of a program and then use one of the other function modules that I mentioned, to get the content of the variant and then compare the content with your pattern. But it certainly looks a very complicated one. Why do you want to do this?

Hi Mahesh,

1. For your requirement,

we need two FM

a) RS_ALL_VARIANTS_4_1_REPORT

b) RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS

2. The (a) FM will get the list of

all variant

Important : Pass the program name

Important : Pass TEXT as *

3. Then Loop at the VAR_TXT (in above FM)

and call the (b) FM.

4. Use VALUTAB of (b) FM

and search this internal table for your pattern.
