Hi,

Can we edit the already generated Segments in the basic type ?

My doubt is there is any difference between release and generate? Becuase I am trying to add new fields to the existing segment in an basic type for which I am failing. This segment and idoc type is already released. I can do the EDIT -> CANCEL RELEASE . I can clearly see version is blank now and Released indicator is blank. So, now I should able to edit the segment. But however it is not happenning.

If I try with the test idoc type and adding segments and proceeed with the same example as above -> i could able to edit the segment.

let me know if my explanation is clear.

Any help on this ???

Hi,

I believe you are talking about editing the custom idoc and not the std one.

After cancelling the release, what is the error you are getting while editing the basic type.

Hi Soumya,

It is a custom IDOC only. Inside the custom IDOC there are some existing std segments along with 2 custom segments ZVBAK and ZVBAP.

This IDOC and segments are generated actually. Is there any different meaning of Released and Generated?? Because we can cancel the release and proceed with adding new fields ....

When I try to modify this segment -> The errror is 'Segments already generated... Changes not possible'. As this is a EDI interface, It was attached to a business object which is also again a custom one.

When I try creating a test idoc and add a few custom segments and released... I can still cancel those and able to add a few fields.

I could not able to add custom fields for ZVBAK and ZVBAP segments. Any idea on these ??
