SAP BI Developer Roles

Hello all,

I am a BI developer on an Implementation project. We do not have a Security guy. and I am the only BI developer, lead, analyst whatever you may call. I have never done security and have been asked to do so here in this project.

Can someone please list out exactly what roles and authorizations I need as anSAP BI developer for backend and front end.With everything possibly a developer does.

Please let me know if more information is needed from me.

Hi Ronit

SAP has provided a BW developer role which you can clone it as of now. You can remove certain transactions which are basis and security related from that like PFCG...

Hope this would be helpful. Else what you can do is since you are a developer you should know what transactions you would use. You can go to pfcg and create a role based on that transaction list and keep working.

Go through SAP Note 161292. It has some standard BW roles.

Hello,

Create a role though PFCG -> Menu tab for standard T-code access and assign it to your profile in SU01 .

Please assign role SAP_BW_DEVELOPER to your profile as well. These give you major access needed for your developments.

Bets practise for SAP standard roles is to copy them and use the copy. The originals may be overwritten without warning, during upgrades or majr patches.

Where can i find role SAP_BW_DEVELOPER. Im using BW 7.31.

I tried to search via pfcg or business content but ir doesnt exist.
