Reprocess IDoc

Hi all,

I created an IDoc through WE19 and processed it using a custom function module. But it ended in error.

Now I want to reprocess the same IDoc.

Which transaction is to be used ?

What are the data required to reprocess the IDoc ?

Hi Meena,

You can use transaction BD87 to reprocess Idocs with an error.

Hi Meena,

You can reprocess the IDoc in BD87 provided the IDoc status is not 54. If there is a Formal Error that happens due to absence of some basic data then the IDoc cann't be reprocessed. To be more specific, it can be reprocessed only if the IDoc has the status '51' which is an application error.

But if it is in the testing phase where you see that the 54 error must not occur, then change the process FM accordingly and then re-run the same IDoc in WE19 again.

you can reporcess using WE19 itself, by giving the same IDoc number, and give the FM.

WE19 will always create a new IDOC . The only way to reprocess an existing error IDOC is BD87 if you want to process in dialog or RBDMANI2 if you want to process either in dialog or background .

You are right Sanjay, that is what I was trying to mention WE19 is a transaction used to test and simulate IDocs but not for reprocessing. But as I mentioned if your error is a formal error which you will not be able to reprocess in BD87, but you are in the testing phase and you have fixed the bug and retesting the same IDoc, then you can do it.

Hi,

The real scenario is :

I have to process an inbound IDoc using a custom FM. This FM creates a PGR(ME22N) for the Purchase Order and a subequent Delivery(VL01N) for corresponding the Sales Order.

Now when I process the IDoc, suppose GR is created and delivery failed. So I have to reprocess the same IDoc from the Delivery part.

For testing I am using WE19. So I can reprocess by correcting the errors.

But in real case if it happens to fail in Gr or Delivery part, I need to manually reprocess the same IDoc from the point where it failed.

I am manually assigning the status of the IDoc in FM depending on the part it failed.

Is there any particular status that I have to assign when a part fails, so that it can be reprocessed ? Or will it reprocess irrespective of the status ?

Also when I reprocess the IDoc using BD87, what is the procedure I have to follow ? I am not familiar with the transaction.

Hi Meena,

It will not be possible for you to reprocess the IDoc from the stage where it actually failed. Either you use WE19 or BD87, it is all the same. It starts from the beggining. As it is a custom function module, if something had errored out then you should reverse the previous processes which were successful. Thats the only way you can make the relevant changes and reprocess again.

You are right. FM processes it from the beginnging.

I have taken care of that in FM in such a way that if idoc fails after creating GR, and when the IDoc gets reprocessed, it will continue from delivery creation.

But now my question is how to proceed in the transaction BD87 since I do not know how to reprocess an IDoc?

When I click "Process" button, it asks to select a node.

But when I select any node and click "Process", it says "This action is not permitted for that node".

Please help me in the procedures in BD87.

Hi Meena,

One question what is the error status that you are setting? It must be 51.

Do this,

Go to Transaction BD87

Give the Idoc number

You will find the tree named 'Application document not

posted' with a status 51

Now Expand this node you will find your basic IDoc type.

Select it and say process.
