If you use RFC port, then only packet size comes into picture. In case of RFC port, IDocs will be transmitted in the form of memory packets. That's where the size of the packet is important. It's nothing to do with the 'Collect IDocs' and 'Size of Packet'.

The packet size is only a performance issue.

To send periodically we use 'Collect IDocs'. functionality.

I hope this will answer ur question

We want to collect outbound IDocs and send periodically. We can set WE20 to "Collect IDocs", however, there is also a required field "packet size", which the help info implies this is the number of IDocs to be collected before sending. Is this correct? Are the "Collect IDocs" and "Packet size" related? If so, then it would seem that if we want to ONLY send IDocs out periodically, we would need to set the Packet size to a very large number. Is this a good approach?

Thanks.

The packet size is the number of IDocs processed in each RFC session. It's only related to performance.
