Then I choosed the external file.

Finally I debug FM TMS_MGR_FORWARD_TR_REQUEST and I found what seems to be an RFC call to get the remote transport file proccessed.

I need to know what FM do that proccess.

Thanks

Hi angel,

1. I need a FM to view the contents of a transport file

2. do u mean by the DATA FILE

   which contains the contents

   of the transprt request ?

3. Well it contains

all the data ie. source code, table names,

   field names, etc etc,

(depending upon the objects in that

   particular request)

3. However,

it is in ENCODED and ZIPPED format.

4. Only SAP know this format.

5. The same file and its contents

   are once again used

to IMPORT the data / objects

  in the importing server.

regards,

amit m.

Hi Amit,

that is just I want. I need to read the file (tables, reports, etc..).

I know that only SAP knows the format of that file, but I'm looking for a FM to read it through SAP.

Now I'm debugging the FM given by Vikas. If I get any result I'll reply again.

Tell me if any of you knows another FM.

Thanks

I need to read the file (tables, reports, etc..).

2. Well for that,

   u can use AL11 tcode

and browse the server directory !

3. the files will be under :

   DIR_TRFILES /usr/sap/trans

4. then /data

5. However, the data will not make any sense !

regards,

amit m.

Hi Amit,

I'm not trying to read data directly. I know where are the transport files and that they where encoded, but I need to decode it (or only watch) through a FM or similar.

I'm debugging the transport process to find out how SAP decode the file to recover data.

If I find the way, maybe I can inspect the file.

Maybe it's impossible, but I'll try.

Regards

Hi again,

1. TP / other executable files on the server.

Actually this kind of encoding/decoding

is NOT DONE BY ANY ABAP PROGRAM OR FM.

2. Its done by operating system executable

   programs / files

   provided by SAP.

3. These executables are called

  by the transport program.

4. Rest care is taken by these executables.

the encode and do their work.

5. Same thing happens while important data.

ABAP Program / FM never does

   this work.

It only assigns the work to tp.

regards,

amit m.
