Extend Serial Number Length

Hi all,

I have a problem on using serial number. The serial used in SAP is 18-digital Character( Data element GERNR ). But I need to store the 20-digital Character. Is there possible to extend the length??

For more infomation, I used the serial number on material movement.

Hi Ming,

This is not possible as the database table which you are going to update field accepts only 18 char only there is no point in increasing the length

this is to the best of my knowledge

Hi,

It is not advisable to change the length of standard fields

unless recommended by SAP.

you can append a zfield into the table with your defined parameters and use that.
