how to resolve tjhis syntax error

Hi friends,

While modifying a SAP program, i came across a syntax error- " Literals cannot be extended more than one line" in ECC6.0 server.

this is the msg for which i am getting error-

" MESSAGE 'Associate should be transferred back to the unit

effective from the forced transfer date' TYPE 'E'.

i have tried to resolve it by making it a msg of single line but i couldnt. so pls let me know how can i proceed.

Hi,

In source code please see somewhere the line must have started with ' and closing ' not provided in same line.

Literals should be in single line in ECC.


i have tried to resolve it by making it a msg of single line but i couldnt.

are you not able to convert into single line.

Goto Utilities~~> settings~~> In tab ABAP EDITOR and in Sub tab EDITOR

Remove the Check box for

Downwards-Comp. Line Lngth(72).

you can do one thing to remove this error

MESSAGE text-001 TYPE 'E'.

double click on text-001 and enter the text there and activate that and come back.

then your text element contains your literal text.

it won't give any error

hi i tried this but i am unable to navigate to other screen to create the text element. i ned to save the data nad move the text screen but while i am trying to save it. its giving a pop up- " Modification bracket structure is incosistent".
