Difference between External Breakpoint and Session Break Point.

Hi,

Have just started using ECC 6.0 and noticed that there are 2 iconds of break points (in SE38). Not sure whether that was the case in 4.6 C.

However would appreciate if anybody could throw light on the difference between session break point and external breakpoint.

Search in SCN like "what is Session breakpoint" and "what is External Breakpoint" you will get 87 and 89 replies respectively.

as the name denotes - session is for an SAP login session, while external canbe used if you are having an RFC call to SAP from an external system. try pressing that and see the various options there

I am sure this is well documented in help.sap.com ....

Further on down the line there is also "layered debugging" (will save your F5 key a lot of wear&tear...) and "terminal debugging" (will save you from the temptation of using yourself as the RFC user(s)...) => presented at TechEd this year.

Very cool stuff to keep an eye out for.
