ALV reports

Hi,

ALV reports can be created using oo abap and normal abap using REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY functions.

which method should i follow?

whats the differnce between these two methods?

hi bala,

The common features of report are column alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).

Using ALV, we can have three types of reports:

1. Simple Report

2. Block Report

3. Hierarchical Sequential Report

Block report looks like a simple report but this report has the features of sorting

and filtering only.

Hierarchical report display is used for displaying data that are related. Like sales order and item details. Here sales order details can be the header data whereas them items in the sales order can be the item data

choose report according to your requirements.

Hi bala,

Using both methods simple and object oriented we can create ALV, there is no standard that in such type of report you use object oriented method and in others you use simple one. Though If you use oo concept in ALV then its more flexible in terms of customization of ALV so its is preferred.

Hi ,

there are lot of examples presented in the SAP

goto SE38 and BCALV* u will find good example about the ALV.
