Extend Customer using IDOC message type DEBMAS

I'm trying use IDOCs to extend customers from one Sales Org/Distribution Channel to the same Sales Org but a different Distribution Channel.

The customers are extended first as Payers and then Sold Tos if there are more than one Sold To for a Payer.

The problem I'm having is, when the Payer is already extended to the new Distribution Channel and I'm only extending a Sold To, it won't let me use that Payer. The Idoc fails with Status of 51 and a message of

Please maintain partner 00000000 for type PY

It is ignoring the E1KNVPM segment containing the Payer Partner function.

looking at the idoc would surely help.

It looks like your idoc is inconsistent.

Either the E1KNVPM for the payer has not been inserted in the right place of the hierarchy, either you did not populate the KUNN2 field with at least the customer number you maintain.

No, I've rechecked all of those things.

I've gone so far as to debug the processing of the Idoc and I can see where the process is creating the new partner record with the correct values and deleting the one that was created by the initial process. The error occurs as it tries to move to the next page of the process.

I've seen the exact same thing occur while trying to record the transaction.
