replace by a comma when entering a dot in a

Hi,

I would like to know if it's possible to replace a dot with a comma in a field (dynamicaly) that requiere decimal value in format 1.234.567,89

My users want to use the dot key in the numpad in place of the comma dot. But when they use this key, an error message appear : "Input must be in the format .__.___,__"

This control is link to the domain of the field.

Is there a solution without change the standard fields ?

It is not so much feasible to replace decimal values as SAP will always throw an error.

The thing is may be the user format is set to __.__.__,__

So u need to check user setting format and can replace accordingly.

Alternative solution is, one needs to reset user settings for a user which gets reflected in the amount field automatically.

You can change the decimal notation in the User profile to 1,234,567.89 but this will change the FORMAT of the field. Than user can enter the dot.

go to tcode system -> use profile->own data ->in that click on default and in that change decimal notation and select format there.

Hi ,

this can be done by chaninging the user pofiles

goto systems -> User Profiles -> Own data

in that select the Defaults TAB , in the Decimal notation select

the way in which you want the output.

Goto Transaction SU3,(MAINTAIN USER PROFILE)..

Select the suitable Decimal Notation in Defaults tab.

Now Log off from SAP and Re login ..to see the changes to come to affect..

yes i know it's possible to change the decimal format in the user profile but my problem is that they want to keep this format because they need it when displaying or printing.

They just need to use the dot key to write a comma.

I don't know if it's possible to change the keyboard settings to make the dot key as the comma key.

parameters: p_data type p decimals 2 .

data:v_data(15) .

v_data = p_data .

replace all occurrences of ',' in v_data with '*'.

replace all occurrences of '.' in v_data with '%'.

replace all occurrences of '*' in v_data with '.'.

replace all occurrences of '%' in v_data with ','.

write:/ v_data using edit mask '__:__:__:__'.

I am exactly looking for the same thing... did you solved it?

I made it but it is not clean ->

changed the mask of my fields so period/dot is allowed even if user is on a french/german notation ...

the number pad decimal separator is still period but it is now accepted.

Go to Tcode SU01.

Put the username.

Under the DEFAULTS tab check the decimal notation

Select from the list as you want

in the same spririt of pandu's code :

parameters: p_data type p decimals 2 .

data:v_data(15) .

data:v_motif(4)

adapt v_motif according to user preferences - find them un USR01
f.e.g if you want to replace ',' with '.' and '.' with ',' motif = ',..,'

v_data = p_data .

translate v_data using v_motif .

write:/ v_data using edit mask '__:__:__:__'.

It just help to translate a string to a number.

If the trouble is same as mine it is not very helpfull

if users press the numpad dot key , ouput is a dot whatever their settings are

and they expect the output to be their decimal separator

I think something can be done using conversion routines.

In my fields if I put 12345.67 (English usr )

it is stored like this 12345.67 and immediately displayed

12,345.67 for english user

and 12 345,67 for french

So I guess there is a kind of validation, and if it was made by a conversion routine,

Changing the input one like this :

-> allowing the dot as the decimal separator

-> replacing it with a comma

things would be OK. User would see a dot only until their input was validated.

Another point could be from the GUI point of view. Something like in MSexcel -> dot of the numpad display decimal separator according to system settings.
