Maintainence View

Hi

I have created a Maintainence View for a custom table in SE11. I have created a Transaction Code in SE93 which points to this Maintainence View , while doing this I have chosen the Trasaction Type as "Transaction with Parameters ( Parameter Transaction )". But now we have got a requirement to disable the "Display/Change Button" in the Maintainence View, that is it can only display but no maintainence. I thought I will customize this transaction by going to SHD0 and create a Screen Variant, but its saying " Variants are possible only for dialog transactions".

Can someone pls suggest any workaround for this.

hi,

Maintenance View - A maintenance view is used to maintain data for an object that is technically distributed on several tables. Maintenance views offer easy ways to maintain complex application objects.

Data distributed on several tables often forms a logical unit, for example an application object, for the user. You want to be able to display, modify and create the data of such an application object together. Normally the user is not interested in the technical implementation of the application object, that is in the distribution of the data on several tables.

Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.

For your question about creating maintenance view, please refer below link:

Creating Maintenance View

And in Maintenance View you can use mainstatus Tab

under this Tab Access level u can use read only .

regards

Ranveer.

I think what you guys are talking about is a View formed out of two to three tables. But in my case I am creating it only for a Single table.

See the scenario is this :

 1) Created a transaprent table.

 2) To Maintain the data in this table ( To Add/Delete the Records) we have created a maintainance View in SE11 which has the same name as the table.

3) Now we can Maintain data for this table giving the view name in SM30.

4)Initially we had created two TCodes . One TCode will point to SE16n for this table where we can View the data ( Here we have removed the View Maintainence Button so that the user can only View but cannot maintain any data ). The other TCode will poin to SM30 where we can maintain the data.

5)In order to View the data in SE16N we need to enter some selection criteria, right? But the user doesnt want to enter, he directly wants to view all the records something similar to SM30 Screen, but without Maintainence ( that is without Change Button on the Application Toolbar).

What I had done:

I opened SE93. Created a TCode pointing to SM31 which is a Transaction Type with parameters. Then I thought I would create a Screen Variant in SHD0 for this TCode and in that Variant I will remove the Change button. But the moment I am clicking the Create Button in SHD0 for this TCode, its giving Error saying "Screen Variant can only be created for Dialog Transaction" because this TCode is Transaction with Parameters. So I am clueless as to what to do or whether what the user wants can be done at all.

I hope now the scenario is clear. Please just let me know whether it is possible or not and if its possible..then how?

Thanks in Advance.

It is possible.

Now try this,

1. Create anew maitenance view for the table via SE11

2. Enter the view name and click on Create Button

3. Select Maitennace View radio button, Enter the Description and table name Say VBAK.

4.
