search help not working....

Hi I've created a search help on my table zstats for the field zplayer, it looks as though it works, but when you click a particular player at the selection screen, no data is displayed.

SELECT-OPTIONS: d_player FOR zdstats-zplayer matchcode object zmat1

is the code i have there for it, any suggestions here?

Hi,

Try this.

Populate the values to be displayed in the internal table and then use the below function module.

CALL FUNCTION 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'

EXPORTING

retfield = <fieldname in the DB>

dynpprog = sy-repid

dynpnr = sy-dynnr

dynprofield = <select option name>

value_org = 'S'

TABLES

value_tab = <internal table>

EXCEPTIONS

parameter_error = 1

no_values_found = 2

OTHERS = 3.

Goto se11 and create search help. There u have to mention the table name in selection method and inside search help parameter u have to specify the fields which should appear in the search help.

After that goto database table and select the field and click on search help and assign the search.

SELECT-OPTIONS: d_player FOR zdstats-fieldname MATCHCODE OBJECT zmat1.

it will work

In FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST

add these two parameters in exporting.

value_org = 'S'

display = 'F'

Well the issue im having right now is the way the player name is formatted. When you click the search help, the players name is in ALL CAPS, and it doesnt work but if the player name is in this format - Daniel Dodson, with the first letter in each name in caps, and the rest lowercase it works, any clue on how to fix it?

Hi Daniel,

The code you have written is correct if you created the zmat1 search help for the field zplayer in the table zdstats, first check the search help whether it works correctly in SE11 (get into the transaction and execute it) and also make sure whether the table have some data in it.

It works just fine, the issue is the format of the name when i click it in the search help. When i click his name in the search help, it will display the name on the selection screen in ALL CAPS, which when executed, will not display any data in the report. In order to display the data, the name must be formatted in this fashion - Daniel Dodson, Caps on the first letter, but lower case on the rest exactly as it is shown like that, how can i do this?

Made a small change in the data dictionary which fixed it.
