Password too short problem

My installation is aborted almost immediatly.

I receive a message saying that my password for j2eadm is too short. This is a standard Windows XP message informing that the password is not within my company's standards.

Since I have not entered any user name or password, I can only assume that the installation tries to create a user on its own with a "simple" password.

<b>Anyone know where is the installation file which controls the passwords?</b>

right the pw is admin. Predefined - to keep it simple.

And to have a predified password for the examples contained.

We change this maybe in the next version. In meantin you must use the slim edition.

In other way, you are saying that there is no way to configure the password to be something other than admin.

This means that the only way I can install is to go to my IT department and beg for mercy...

Can I add other SAP modules on top of slim edition? For example: EP, KM. I couldn't install Java Edition due to the company restriction about the password length. I still don't understand why installer has to use "admin" for the default password? It's not user friendly design. I like the way in SP9 installer, I really hope they can make change on this.

okok. we will make a new installer.

The cause why we fixed the password in the java edition is, that predefined samples are ready to run. This will then no longer be possible - you will have to do post-installation steps.

I also have the same problem with the lite version. Can anyone help me?

doesn't work : admin, same as userid, more then 14 charaters

You can either try Slim Edition or older version apply for the SP11/12 patches.

If your pc is not protected against changes of security settings, you might be able to change the password policy:

1) Within Windows go to Start --> Control Panel

2) Select Administrative Tools

3) Select Local Security Policy

4) Browse to the folder 'Account Policies --> Password Policy'.

5) Change the 'Minimum password length' to 5.

For me this solved the problem.

IT Guys are smarter than that. When a corporate policy is set for passwords, setting the policy for a PC is disabled.

Is there anyway also to evaluate the CAF 1.0 and Guided Procedures 2.0 without the sneak preview edition? My company is already an SAP customer, so is there any type of downloads on service.sap.com that would be available for those products? I can also wait for a new installer that doesn't use the password.

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if we should just contact our sales representative instead.

No, except you wait for official release date. Thats a benefit of "Sneak Preview" that we can look at things in beta-status.

there is a way for changing the standard password to meet your security policy. simply do the following:

- create the windows users "j2eadm" and "SAPServiceJ2E" manually in windows control panel. Assign passwords that match your security policy.

- the SAP installer now detects that the users already exist with another password than "admin". the installer now asks for the password the users already have. then, the installation should continue...

I am facing the same situation here . I have created two users namely j2eadm and SAPServiceJ2E manually through window panel and assigned the passwords , admin.123 and admin.234 resp ( as per my company policy ) . Then the installer asked for the password for the above users . I have given as what I have created . Now an error as below and installer exited abruptly .

Try reinstalling with out the password restrictions

you should be able to get it through smoothly

Hello All,

I have gotten to the same point. We have domain password restrictions that require a minimum of 8 characters for password. So, it is not possible to reinstall without the password restrictions.

I have created the 2 initial accounts with password: qw123456. I receive the same error Aneez receives.

It is really frustrating that in this age of ever increasing security policies, SAP is not able to adapt. Can we get some feedback from SAP on this issue?
