Hi,

I tried to maintain member access profile for an application set. System generated an error that my log is full and I need to take some backup to freeup space. To fix this error, I tried to view service logs through Insight options (stated in OutlookSoft Admin help), but with out success. It seems that I need to enable 'Insight' option for an application set by eAdmin. Kindly advise.

Regards,

Ravi Kiran

To enable Insight for SAP BPC, you will need the ADmin Console installed. Go to this location: C:\Program Files\BPC\OSoftAdminMain.exe

That is what you can use to run the Admin Console. From there, logon to your Appset, and then click on Insight. In the action pane, you can enable Insight.

Insight is a predictive analytics engine - it doesnt have anything to do with the logs/member access profile problems you are having.

Rgds,

Ryan

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your prompt response.

I am able to enable Insight for my application set, however unable to fix the error.

Step by Step procedure:

1. I have added a new application set copying "AppShell"

2. I have added one dimension and changed the members for existing dimensions

3. I have added a new application by copying another existing application

4. While tried to add "Member Access Profile" for the new application, system generated an error saying that my log book is full, please import the log files. After that it didn't even allow me to open my application set.

Kindly advise.

Regards,

Ravi Jaganatham

Please be sure to have a FULL backup of the database and log file prior to following the below instructions.

SHRINK A SQL SERVER DATABASE LOG FILE

1) Open Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

2) Expand the server name and then expand databases.

3) Right click on the desired database and choose properties.

4) Click on the options tab.

5) Change the Recovery Model from "Full" to "Simple" then click ok.

6) Right click on the same database and choose all tasks -> shrink database.

7) Click files in the “Shrink Files” section of the window.

😎 VERY IMPORTANT - Click the down arrow on the file selection box and choose the databasename_Log file.

9) Click the "Truncate free space from the end of the file" radio box then click ok.

Information about the AUTO_SHRINK option (Also available in the options tab of the database in SQL Enterprise Manager) When set to ON, the database files are candidates for periodic shrinking. Both data file and log files can be shrunk automatically by SQL Server. When set to OFF, the database files are not automatically shrunk during periodic checks for unused space. By default, this option is set to ON for all databases when using SQL Server Personal Edition, and OFF for all other editions, regardless of operating system. AUTO_SHRINK only reduces the size of the transaction log if the database is set to SIMPLE recovery model or if the log is backed up via a Database Maintenance plan. The AUTO_SHRINK option causes files to be shrunk when more than 25 percent of the file contains unused space. The file is shrunk to a size where 25 percent of the file is unused space, or to the size of the file when it was created, whichever is greater.
