This sounds like a classical case of semantics. No more points and missions, but we do have kudoes and badges. Your (karma) points were a reflection of the effort put into the community, now Kudoes do the same thing. Missions were milestones of sorts that earned you badges, now badges require you to achieve some milestone. In other words, what's new?

How do you move up the "rank ladder"? What are the metrics?

Before 2016, points were a reward with clear metrics. That is gamification. They were also a good indicator of the quality of content. After 2016 SAP did away with points, because "some people were gaming the system". Karma points remained, and they were a reward at least to the user themselves, and a nice metric of how you were doing. At least Kudoes are visible to other users again.

Now we have Kudoes. Kudoes are a nice metric to see how you are doing. However Kudoes are rarely given in Q&A. Previously you at least got points for answering a question. Not anymore. That means that my motivation to put effort into the community is greatly reduced. Why would I, because in my heart of hearts I know that the person asking the question is probably gratefull? Most people who ask questions could not even be bothered to mark the answer as being correct, let alone give the answer a like. And what do you know, an accepted answer is not equal to a Kudoe. Effectively SAP is saying, that my answer, my effort is worthless.

All likes have been transformed to Kudoes though. So as a result, people who were nice enough to thank me in a comment for answering their question, which "thank you" comment I then gave a like..., they now have received kudoes for asking the question and I got zilch, nada, bupkiss for answering it. Guess what that does for my motivation?

Because SAP is probably not interested in critical feedback?

Is there a dedicated contact or the like (ticket component, distribution list, etc.) if blog posts should be removed from public because the respective product or cloud service is no longer available and the person who posted the blog is no longer with SAP or is not responding to the removal request? As part of SAP's product or cloud service sunset processes we - the sunset coaches and sunset leads - are more often than not confronted with this kind of situation. Any support here would be appreciated.

How long will it take SAP to reimplement all the quality of life functionality on the new platform, that it took them 3 years to do after the previous migration?

Here a practical example of how the new platform's functionality is as useless as it was in 2016 after the previous migration:

I received this slighly cryptic private message:

Let us try to find what this is about. My guess is that this user is asking about an old post of theirs. Perhaps I replied to it, perhaps someone else with a similar name.

First let's search for the post, assuming/hoping that the title of the message is the title of the post ("PO expediting report"). I am only active in SAP Business One Q&A:

Please note, where I am when I enter the search term, and then check the tags of the inline search results.

Next we press enter on the search:

Surprise surprise, the same useless search results, that have nothing to do with SAP Business One. The only thing I learned from this was that currently there is no post with that exact title. Oh, and I just lost five minutes of my life that I will never get back.

The user name (D12) is useless after the migration. I have no idea who this is. It may be someone I have helped out a lot, I wouldn't know. It may also be a case of mistaken identity on their part, because my user name is equally undistinctive.

Their profile is of no help:

No name. No posts. No real date of when they joined the community.

Perhaps this message is some sort of spam? On the previous platform, you could only send private messages to people after their approval. That wasn't an entirely perfect solution either, but it did stop spam perfectly. Does this platform have some sort of spam guard, or is SAP planning on implementing one?

Is OneUX (or whatever it was) still a design goal for the SAP websites? I was going to look it up, remembering mentioning the correct term in a reply of mine back in 2016 or 2017. Let's see:

I am having déjà vu something fierce, and I am getting depressed by the prospect of waiting years for this new "better" platform to even become equally as good as the previous.

2. When they are replies to a question or answer there is the "Show replies" text. Only when I click it I can see the replies. Is there an option that I can set in the platform to show everything at once?

Does anyone have a pointer on what the arrow UX design is based on? I would rather use the same pattern as in the VS Code explorer and use > when something is closed and the arrow down when it's open.

Thank you for migrating the content to the new platform.

However, the formatting and layout of my blogposts suffered a lot during the automatic migration. It looks like the html editor on this platform had issues with the html code generated by the previous community platform. Thus the conversion resulted in a less readable content.

One other thing that the migration has seemingly overlooked is to reindex and redirect the links with the custom tags. For instance, https://blogs.sap.com/tag/quovadis/ yields

Not Found

The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It's a pity as my readers will be getting 404 errors now instead of being served the content.

Same issue that Pavan talked about also exists for me.

Sorting by creation date not only for hitlist of a search is what is most required.

There are just too many people commenting on blogs that are several years old. Seeing those blogs in the group section in the sorted list makes no sense to me. Often people misuse the blogs to ask questions.

Hi, @horst_keller and @fmaginley:

You can't delete content, but you should be able to edit content. The edit option should be the first thing you see in the pulldown (down arrow) above the timestamp on your content (in the upper-right corner for all content).

I just ran a test on the staging site, using my non-admin account, and I was able to edit without any issues -- and that account has basic permissions. So I can't imagine why your live accounts wouldn't have the same privileges.

Please reach out to community@sap.com with screenshots if you're still having trouble editing, and we'll look into the matter further.

I responded to Alex, but to respond to you as well: You can use RSS feeds to get updates about boards (such as Q&A or blogs for specific categories), but if you want to drill deeper, you can subscribe to tags to receive notifications about new content and check tag feeds.

RSS is still available, but as you noted, it's not available on the tag level: https://community.sap.com/t5/help/faqpage/title/rss.

You can still subscribe to a tag, so that you can get notifications (and see feeds) specific to that tag. For example, you mentioned SAP Fiori. If you go to https://community.sap.com/t5/c-khhcw49343/SAP+Fiori/pd-p/73554900100700000977, you can subscribe to the SAP Fiori tag. You can do this for any SAP Managed Tag in the community. (You can also use search just by SAP Managed Tags. You'll see that option in the search bar pulldown.)

@jerryjanda Re: Not being able to chose the badges displayed: Well, I don't like that...especially as they were re-added in "not the original order". So now the first badge listed on my profile page is a "First post" badge or something, and my Grand Master Solver badge is waaay down the list so will never be displayed there. Most of the time my list will show "Random Day Surprise" (worthless) or "Community Fan <month>" (also worthless) which kinda negates the point of kudos if no-one sees (without digging) your most meaningful (to them) achievements.

@jerryjanda Thanks for your response. Yes, I found the SAP Enable Now topic page; previously the 'content' and 'questions' were separate tabs on the same page, which was very convenient. Now, there's no direct link to the questions from the Topic page - although maybe I can find someone with admin access to that Topic page to add a link...

...Yes, I found the Q&A link exactly as you have it. Not quite an easy-to-mention URL, but I guess most people will bookmark it. Problem is you can only search on one tag, when there are currently three SAP Managed Tags for SAP Enable Now...and maybe a few user tags...

And finally...and this is a good example...how do you reply to a reply? (So it is shown below the reply it refers to.) It looks like now we only have a flat, chronological list of all replies to the post - so how can I easily follow a trail of my comment, your response to it, and then my response to your response? There's everyone else's comments, and your responses to those, mixed in... UPDATE: Either fixed, or I just figured it out - 'Show replies' even if there aren't any, and then you can enter a threaded comment there.

I don't mean to be only negative...certainly the interface is 'lighter'. But nobody likes change (my main job is really change management, so I should be better at handling it myself) and at the moment it's looking like a reduction in functionality (which, ironically, is a lot of what people complain about when moving from ECC 6 to S/4... )
